ACCC 2025 Spring Roundup

The ACCC Roundup is held twice a year in the spring and fall. It is an opportunity for camera clubs to meet up for socialization, competition and to learn from a professional speaker. Each roundup is hosted by a different member camera club. This spring the event is hosted by the Camera Guild of Sun City. The event will take place at the Sundial Recreational Center in Sun City.

We are excited to have Nikon Ambassador, author, and world renown wildlife photographer, Moose Peterson, present on wildlife photography at our Spring Roundup.

Morning Presentation: The Art of Bird Photography

Our feathered friends are a joy to watch, while challenging yet rewarding to photograph! Big or small, dull or brilliant, fast or slow, birds are everywhere, lending themselves as natural, easy subjects. How do you get close to them? How do you make those images you desire with the camera gear you already own? Is there a magic number or do the important answers come from within? We're going to spend some time together as I relate how my passion for birds over the years has answered these questions for my photography. In the process, they will answer many of yours. Let's explore the art of bird photography!

Afternoon Presentation: Critters - Stories Through the Lens

Our wild heritage is filled with critters of every size, shape, color, and biology that our imagination can evoke, and then some! Traveling with a camera in hand to have them share their life stories with me has been my lifelong passion and profession. I want to invite you along on that journey as we venture from sea to grasslands, from our largest land mammals to tiniest birds in North America. Their day to day challenges for survival are fascinating and when narrowed down to our viewfinder are amazing wonders. I so look forward to sharing with you on their behalf.

Moose’s passion for visual storytelling turned into a business in 1981. His wife Sharon has been a partner in this pursuit from the beginning, dedicating their lives to the educating the public and the protection of our wild heritage through his photography. Moose in 2008 followed his passion for aviation photography with the same goals of preserving our aviation heritage and the freedoms they protect, pictorially and orally for future generations. Along the way Moose has been honored for his photographic passion: he is a Nikon Ambassador USA, recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award, Research Associate with the Endangered Species Recovery Program, just to name a few. He was part of Epson’s Finish Strong ad campaign. Moose was the creative producer/photographer of his acclaimed films: Warbirds and The Men Who Flew Them & Land of the Giants. He shares his knowledge through his writing, being published in over 143 magazines worldwide, author of 29 books including his latest, Takeoff and best seller Captured. One of the original Nikon shooters to receive the D1 in 1999, Moose embraced this new technology, becoming the only wildlife photographer in the world to shoot strictly digital in the early years.

Going South from Bell Rd. On 99th Ave. turn right onto 103rd Ave.
Continue on 103rd Ave to 14801 N 103rd Ave.

Going North from Thunderbird Blvd. or Grand Ave. 0n 99th Ave.
Turn left on N. Boswell Blvd and travel to 103rd Ave. Sundial is at the corner of 103rd Ave. and Boswell.

Lunch: Lunch is also included. A Mexican Buffet will be served with chicken and beef fajitas, corn & flour tortillas, a side salad, and assorted dessert bars. For beverages, coffee, ice tea and lemonade will be offered.

The majority of items will be gluten free. Those following a dairy free, or vegetarian diet, can self select from the buffet. For those who have need a gluten free dessert or a vegan option (vegetable fajitas) or have a specific food allergy, please contact us.
